# FAQ

## Can I get papers without an AI answer?

Yes. Use [Medical paper search](/developers/docs/health-api/search): `GET /api/v1/health/search?q=...` returns `{ topic, papers }` from the same search service as the health chat tool, without creating a chat.

## Do I need to implement the chat tools?

No. The server selects the same medical literature and medication tools as `/health`. For direct reference data, use [Medication and condition references](/developers/docs/health-api/references).

## Which account owns the data?

The API key owner. Profiles, files, and chats share that account's website and MCP workspace. Each user needs their own account and key; a developer key does not create separate patient records.

## When is profile consent required?

Saving a health profile requires `consentGiven: true`. Creating logs, reading individual logs, and adding entries require consent. Without consent, the log list is empty; log deletion remains available. See [Health profile](/developers/docs/health-api/profile) and [Health logs](/developers/docs/health-api/trackers).

## Can I continue a research chat through the Health API?

No. Use a health `chat_id` with `POST /api/v1/health/chat`. Use the [Agent API](/developers/docs/agent-api) for research conversations.

## How do I choose a model?

Use `GET /api/v1/models?surface=health` to list entitled models. Pass a supported model or `auto`; when omitted, the plan's health model is used.
